I am not saying this because [we are] in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances, [even when brothers nearly die in a heart attack or dads are going hundreds of miles for cancer treatment; when parents have 50th wedding anniversaries and we can’t be there or when 20 year school reunions pass by; when daughters are hurt or when sons are scared; when plans are radically changed and out of our control or when days pass by held up by security in an airport, or when we feel like flying home or when we feel like we are flying high]. I know what it is to be in need [and not know if I will eat], and I know what it is to have plenty [and homes are miraculously provided for]. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him[, the Lord Jesus Christ,] who gives me strength.”
