I was comforted this morning as I read Psalm 25, in which David begins by lifting up His soul to the Lord, pleading with God to guide Him throughout the day:
1 To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul;
2 in you I trust, O my God.
Do not let me be put to shame,
nor let my enemies triumph over me.3 No one whose hope is in you
will ever be put to shame,
but they will be put to shame
who are treacherous without excuse.4 Show me your ways, O LORD,
teach me your paths;5 guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day long.
This is yet another passage that reminds me that our fellowship with God is a 24/7 thing. It’s not just something that happens when we read the scripture or when we say a formal prayer. God is speaking to us and we can hear Him, throughout our day and our life. In fact, if we aren’t seeking His guidance, teaching, and path “all day long” we will lose our way quickly, distracted by the clamoring of the world. It’s easy to get lost in the music, TV, internet, marketing, fear, worry, sickness, urgent. But we must rest in Him. HE alone can “release [our] feet from the snare.” Psalm 25:15. Only our Sovereign Lord truly knows what is best for us.
