Yes, the time when we celebrate the birth of Jesus of Nazareth is very close. We only have four more sleeps and then we will awaken to Christmas Day.
When I think of Jesus there really is one thing I can never get over. “The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”—which means, “God with us.” Matthew 1:23; Isaiah 7:14.
I really can go over the top thinking of the fact that Jesus’ name is Immanuel. God with us. GOD WITH US. God came to earth and lived and died – for us. To be with us. To lead us from death to life. To live in us and recreate us into something new. To breathe life into us again after we willingly rejected Him and breathed the carbon monoxide of sin. To reconcile all things to Himself and give us all one thing in common – God with us.
The ramifications of this are more than just eternal life in the future. We have eternal life now. John 17:3. We have God’s authority for life, love, and worship in a way that will transform not just our lives but the lives of others as we demonstrate Jesus’ life in us.
God with us. When we have the Infinite God who created the universe and holds all things together with us, when we have the God who defeated death in us, when we have the God who holds us in His hand over us, we have “immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us!” Amazing grace, God with us.
Amazing grace, God with us.
Merry Christmas!!
