Hudson Taylor, a famous missionary, remarked that God isn’t looking for people of great faith; instead He’s looking for people willing to follow Him. At first blush that sounds strange to say or read or think about, but we must realize that the focus is God and what He can do, not what we can do.
Scriptures teach us that even the faith we have comes as a gift from God. It isn’t something we muster up. If we are waiting to be a person of great faith to do something “big” for God, or thinking that we are a person of great faith and therefore can do something “big” for God, we are missing the mark. We have shifted the focus from God and His work through us to ourselves and what we can do.
So, why am I saying all of this? Because I hope that I and my family are living for God, completely. Tara and I want to live completely free, where we are not thinking about what we can do or what we cannot do; instead, we are simply following our Shepherd’s voice and doing what He can do through us. Suddenly, as we walk that path of faith, our ability to do all things through Christ becomes real and we are completely liberated. Praise God. And, perhaps, He will bless us with seeing our lives help others to do the same.
