Some of the most familiar and exciting verses in Scripture include Jesus telling us that He is gentle:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
These words are from the One who created the universe, the Lion of Judah, the One with the double edged sword coming out of His mouth, the only True and Righteous Judge. Yet, when we come to Him He is gentle. Praise God.
Interestingly, the English word is derived from the ancient words referring to family and/or nation. That is something worth pondering as we pray that our Dad would make us more gentle in every way.
